This song was made for the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.
The music was composed by Ennio Morricone, later Elisa wrote the lyrics and recorded her interpretation.
Morricone told her to get inspired by memories, and therefore she wrote the lyrics remembering her childhood friend died of leukemia.
Elisa said that the published version was a temporary demo only recorded to make hear the text to Ennio, but when Quentin Tarantino heared this first version he wanted it for his movie.
The song was released for the first time with the official soundtrack on December 18, 2012.
Lyrics and english translation:
Ancora qui
ancora tu
ora però io so chi sei
chi sempre sarai
e quando mi vedrai
ricorderaiancora qui
ancora tu
e spero mi perdonerai
tu con gli stessi occhi
sembri ritornare
a chiedermi di me
di come si sta
e qui dall’altra parte
come val’erba verde, l’aria calda
sui miei piedi e sopra i fiori
si alza un vento tra i colori
sembri quasi tu
anche il cielo cambia nome
cosi bianco quel cotone
ch’è veloce, che si muove
perso in mezzo al bluè un qualcosa in te
è quel che tornerà
com’era giàancora qui
ancora tu
e quel che è stato è stato ormai
e con gli stessi occhi
sembri ritornare
a chiedermi di me
di come si sta
e in questo strano mondo
come varitornerai
e ritorneròricorderai
ricorderòritornerai, ritornerò
ricorderai, ricoderò
ricorderai, ricorderai, ricorderai, ricorderò
ricorderai,io ti ricorderò
ricorderai, ricorderò
ricorderai, ricorderò———————————————————–
Stll here,
still you,
but now I know who you are,
who you will always be
and when you will see me
you will rememberstill here still you
and I hope that you will forgive me
and with the same eyes
you seem to be coming back
to ask me about me
about how one feels
and here on the other side
what’s going on
the green grass, the warm breeze
on my feet and on the flowers
the wind grows and blows through the colors
it almost feels like it’s you
even the sky change its name
how white is that cotton
how fast it’s moving
lost into the blueit’s that something inside you
it’s something that will turn into
what it already once wasstill here
still you
and what’s done is done and is gone now
you with the same eyes
seem to be coming back
to ask me about me
about how one feels
and in this strange world
how it is goingyou will come back
and I will come backyou will remember
I will rememberyou will come back
I will come backyou will remember
I will remember
you will remember
I will remember
you will remember
I will remember
you will rememberI will remember you
you will remember
I will remember
you will remember
I will remember
